KiSuiAn Shakuhachi Camp
We will have our 7th year of
Shakuhachi Camp in a wonderful location that we used for the
first time in 2007. It will be at the "Temenos Retreat
Center" located at 1564 Telegraph Road (Route 162) in West
Chester, PA 19382. It will begin at 12:00PM Friday, and end
on Monday afternoon at 12:00PM. In addition to Shakuhachi
players of all levels, Koto and Shamisen players are invited
as well, to what will certainly be an informative and
rewarding experience! There will be classes and nightly
concerts as well as private lessons. While we will again have
an emphasis on using the Shakuhachi in "Music Therapy" as a
healing tool, we will also have an additional focus this year
on ji-nashi Shakuhachi construction since it was such a big
hit last year! Our instructor, Jon Shingetsu Kypros, creates
his livelihood by making ji-nashi Shakuhachi. Please check
the Shakuhachi Camp information tab on this website [www.nyogetsu.com] for more
camp info. Instructors will be Kurahashi Yoshio Sensei, the
Traditional Japanese Music Ensemble of New York celebrating
its 31st year: Mutsumi Takamizu, Ronnie Nyogetsu Reishin
Seldin, Allen Nyoshin Steir, Daniel Nyohaku Soergel, and
Jorge Alfano. Please call: 917-207-6724 or email: nyogetsu@gmail.com for
further details on this experience. Advance registration is
